Become ORDIT Approved.

Ever considered becoming part of the ORDIT instructor training scheme?
The term ORDIT means “Official Register of Driving Instructor Training”, and we know you will take the lead in a fast growing industry that driving instructing is of today's society when you qualify to become part of the scheme. Once qualified, you will have the understanding and knowledge against performance standards and trainer requirements, along with a high level of coaching and instructional skills which you would apply within planned training assessments to others with less experience and knowledge of the A.D.I requirements. In this role - you would assist in development training plans, increase coaching and instructional skills to those who wish to be supported with continuing their professional development, and "developmental training" to those seeking to pass the A.D.I Part 1, 2 and 3 qualifying process. You will build confidence, motivate and help others achieve their goals.
The most recent changes came in effect from the 1st April 2019 in the way you will have to prepare for the ORDIT assessment, and how the assessment criteria will work.
Raising the Standards
Prior to changes, only 60% of instructors in an ORDIT establishment needed to be registered.
This has now changed to 100%.
Instructors wishing to obtain ORDIT accreditation will also need to have achieved a grade ‘A’ on their latest Standards Check to join the ORDIT scheme, instead of being an A.D.I for 12 months. All ORDIT instructor trainers will need to offer developmental training to potential P.D.I's and existing A.D.I’s when requested.
Assessment Day: The assessment lasts up to 1 hour and 30 minutes in total.
This includes:
A short time with the examiner who will ask you about your P.D.I you've brought with you on the day, and evidence of their previous training records.
You are given 15 minutes introduction to evidence training records, and An hour of in-car training where you give a live training session to your trainee whilst in role if this is your preferred option, or alternatively you can sit in the back and offer guidance to your P.D.I whilst they offer a live lesson to a real-life pupil. (Role play is no longer an option)
Around 15 minutes at the end where your examiner will offer feedback and provide you with your result.
Please be aware that due to Covid-19 risk of infection, the testing criteria timing guideline have been reduced, with less stops permitted, face masks worn by all in the car, and a ventilated car. Please read the S.O.P’s (standard operating procedures) for further information which can be accessed online or by NASP’s website, who are the National Association Strategic Partnership.
